There are several versions of Nessie Kapatelis linked to this account. The mun likes to change things up from thread to thread, and since Nessie is something of a minor character in her canon, there's no real reason to make separate journals.
So there's a few different places where you can reach Nessie!
Teenage Nessie:

Social Worker Vanessa (adult, canonical):

Sticky: Aug. 31st, 2022 07:08 pmCHARACTER NAME: Vanessa "Nessie" Kapatelis
CHARACTER SERIES: Wonder Woman v2 (DC Comics 1987 to 2006)
[OOC]
This is the permissions list for OOC (out of character), activity.
Backtagging: I am always down for continuing a thread to a logical end. I don't care if it takes you a week or more to tag back -- real life happens, and it takes precedence over RP.
Threadhopping: Yes, of course! The first comm I was active in, back in the day, had a rule about taking adult content off comm and onto personal journals. Making a fresh post to continue a thread, for whatever reason, is cool with me.
Fourthwalling: Acceptable, since Vanessa's former identity as the supervillain Silver Swan is well-known in the DCU. (If I am playing her as a teenager, that is before the Silver Swan mess and it would not be appropriate.)
Offensive subjects: adult Vanessa's story has themes of mind control, forced surgical alteration, sexual coercion, and a person being trafficked (for the superpowers granted by their cybernetic implants). I can handle these themes with a little warning that's where you want to go (a PM will be appreciated).

This is the permissions list for IC (in-character), activity:
Hugging this character: Go for it, she's quite affectionate.
Kissing this character: Platonic kisses are go; romantic kisses ok if that's the meme.
Flirting with this character: Yup, she's down. Character is a straight, cis female, so she'll flirt with men and gently turn down any women. (I don't think she's ever had an enby show interest.)
Fighting with this character: Teenage version - no, she's not very good. Adult version - yeah, she's able to defend herself. Silver Swan - yes, if you want to fight a supervillain with a long range sonic scream, go ahead.
Injuring this character: Down for it. No limits, though a heads up that maiming might occur will be appreciated.
Killing this character: Sure. It doesn't have to count for canon to her personal storyline, so that's fine.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Yes, but she does have some fairly robust mental defenses after being the target of Edgar Cizko (Dr. Psycho), a telepathic supervillain with a grudge against her. You can probably slip in with Vanessa unawares, but once she catches on she would likely be able to kick you out of her mind.
Warnings: Again, the "adult" and "still Silver Swan" versions of Vanessa that I can play deal with themes of mind control, forced surgical alteration, sexual coercion, and human trafficking. These things don't have to come up, and I will warn if they do.
The "teenage" version of Vanessa has not yet experienced these things and will likely be safe for most people to play with. She did have a close friend who committed suicide, but that is unlikely to come up unless the other player brings up similar themes of death and loss.

Finder's Fees
Jun. 20th, 2023 09:13 pm[Vanessa Kapatelis stares up at the blank white ceiling of her cell. The whole area is illuminated with harsh fluorescent lights that gleam off the chromed metal features of the room -- the frame of the observation window, the surgical machines and implements, the mechanically locked door, and the operating table that she's currently strapped down on. Vanessa is hooked up to monitoring devices and has been scanned by several free-floating mechanical devices that zip back and forth from small access ports in the walls. These ports would be too small for a human to access.]
[Vanessa is doing her best to breathe steadily and calmly, trying to find a calm center... a way to look at her current situation without panic. It's difficult, though. She never expected a discussion about kinks and past sexual experience to lead to being kidnapped, but Vanessa's life has been strange ever since her mother brought Wonder Woman home with her, back when Vanessa was thirteen. In a way, being kidnapped to once again be unwillingly operated on and turned into a cybernetic version of the Silver Swan is par for the course.]
[Is there any way that Wonder Woman will be able to find out about Vanessa's kidnapping? Perhaps, but it's not very likely. And it's even less likely that Diana will be informed in time -- 'in time' meaning, before the physical operations and the brainwashing begin. If Veronica Cale can hire a shapeshifting metahuman like Gemini to kidnap her, and then increase the payment within a day when demanded, then she likely also has enough money to hire Dr. Edgar Cizko.]
[Dr. Psycho... Vanessa shudders at the thought. He's a powerful telepath, and he has a personal grudge against Vanessa. Her mental defenses are naturally strong, something he hadn't expected in his first forays at tormenting her. But they have clashed often enough that he can get in and do damage quickly, before she can throw him back out. And his expertise is likely needed to brainwash her into the raging monster that is the Silver Swan.]
You are going to regret this, [Vanessa says to the empty room, and the recording devices that are no doubt present if out of her line of sight.] Diana may not come for me, but I won't make things easy for you.
[As far as Vanessa can tell, she's still within the same facility that Gemini delivered her to -- there was no being knocked out, and no transportation that she endured while awake. (She felt that tickle when Gemini's bladed arm was against her throat, but doesn't know that a tiny piece of Gemini's substance was transferred onto her throat. It's still there, having escaped detection by the scientists and their machines).]

Vanessa is just your typical overworked social worker, called up out of bed to deal with the fallout from a trafficking ring bust. Hours have passed since then, hours dedicated to figuring out safe places for the kids to stay while others in the department do their best to track down more stable relatives to take custody.
She's got her head resting on one hand as she nurses a cup of coffee and waits for her order to be deposited at her table. It's been a very long night and she's hungry, and tired, and... possibly waiting for you to join her?

How Much is Too Much?
Sep. 24th, 2022 08:51 pmSteve Harrington sends a text message:
I have a voicemail from Mike at 1am. He starts to say something, but then throws up instead.
And Nessie responds with her own concerns about the situation.

Parkman Plaza, Boston Common -- Vanessa Kapatelis is seated on the concrete retaining wall that connects the three bronze statues known as Learning, Industry, and Religion. She is between the man depicted using a compass and reading a book (Learning) and the man using a jackhammer (Industry).
Nessie is dressed rather smartly in a light pink skirt, pale mint green sleeveless blouse, and a blazer of a slightly darker pink. Her curly hair has been tamed with a flat iron and braided back away from her face. Her brown flats match the brown purse that she clutches on her lap. She would blend in with any of the young professionals that frequent the business sector of Boston. However, Nessie looks rather stiff and nervous as she waits, scanning the crowd for familiar faces.
A message was left on her voicemail a few days ago, instructing her to call back at a particular number. Jason Todd answered and confirmed that he'd located Donna Troy. They arranged a time to meet in Boston, when Julia Kapatelis would also be in the city. Nessie would get a chance to explain things to Donna, and hopefully they'd go on to meet up with Julia.
The therapist said it was necessary to talk out her feelings with her mother, but despite all her own training in the field of counseling, Nessie was still frightened of it. Julia hadn't meant to harm Nessie, ever, but the harm had still occurred. Addressing it... was not something that the Kapatelis women did.
And if Donna decided this problem was not worth her time... Nessie would either have to do this alone, or resort to having Jason come along as backup instead. (Nessie appreciated his willingness to help, but worried about how Julia would react to Jason.)
Nessie clutched her purse closer and silently counted to time her breathing, 'In -- two, three, four, five -- and out...' just like she'd done for Jason once. She had to stay calm.

Trouble Comes Knocking
Sep. 1st, 2022 10:00 amCross-pollinating Nessie's canon with Detroit: Become Human since she tagged a Connor.

In this universe, Nessie is still an ancillary member of the Red Hoods, a gang that controls the drug trade and the illegal weapons trade throughout the city. However, some of the lieutenants in the gang are androids in this continuity -- specifically Brandy Lynn for this thread, who runs an operation of drug mules and converting androids who show signs of Deviancy.

Greetings from Hawkins, Indiana
Aug. 31st, 2022 08:01 pmCrossing Nessie over into Stranger Things canon because she tagged an Eddie Munson.
[ Thread here ]
In this continuity, Julia and Vanessa Kapatelis had to relocate away from Boston in 1986 (which is the current year for the most recent season of "Stranger Things"). Nessie is 17 years old and a junior in high school when she transfers to Hawkins High. (I've aged her up for the purposes of the crossover.)
I won't be mentioning Wonder Woman, as she would likely be fictional in-universe and conflict with the canon. (Luckily, since season one of Stranger Things takes place in 1983, the comic books would still be the pre-Crisis run of "Wonder Woman volume 1" instead of the Perez-written reboot that Nessie comes from.)
But Dr. Edgar Cizko will figure into Nessie's backstory, if/when I get to it. He's a creep there, and he'll be a creep here.

Vanessa is still the Silver Swan. Rather than throwing all kinds of enhancements on the Silver Swan without a thought to whether she'd be able to survive the drastic surgery, and forcing her to attack the Themysciran embassy in what amounted to a suicide mission... Veronica Cale instead planned for long-term use of the weapon she purchased for 10 million U.S. dollars.

Silver Swan also went around asking "personal" questions on the same meme post. The one that got a reply was directed at Castiel.
